Meet your instructor
I’m Dr. Josie Ball — originally from Poulsbo, Washington, I’ve always been passionate about movement and healing. After a sports injury ended my collegiate softball career, I channeled that energy into studying chiropractic care. I earned my Doctorate of Chiropractic (along with degrees in human biology and sports & exercise science) from the University of Western States.
My practice path has led me from multidisciplinary clinics in the Pacific Northwest to treating professional athletes, and ultimately to supporting women through the perinatal journey. I’m also a trained herbalist and love combining natural approaches with chiropractic care.
My family and I relocated to Shepherdstown, West Virginia in 2021. Outside of practice, you’ll find us exploring nature, gardening, or connecting with our community over a cup of coffee.
What you’ll learn
-
One thing I want to emphasize right away is that fertility is not just a women's health issue.
Male fertility contributes to nearly 50% of infertility cases, and sperm quality plays a major role in embryo health and miscarriage risk.
So throughout this course we will be talking about how both partners can prepare their bodies."
-
Both eggs and sperm go through a maturation process before conception occurs.
Sperm take approximately 70–90 days to fully develop.
That means the lifestyle choices, nutrition, toxin exposures, and stress levels of the father three months before conception directly influence sperm quality.
Eggs are slightly different because women are born with their eggs, but the final maturation stage of the egg also occurs during the months leading up to ovulation.
So the environment inside the body during this time matters tremendously
-
Our bodies are constantly exposed to environmental chemicals. Many of these chemicals can interfere with hormone signaling and reproductive health.
These are often called endocrine disrupting chemicals.
The Empowered Mama Preconception Course
One of the biggest misconceptions about fertility is that pregnancy begins the moment you see a positive test. In reality, pregnancy begins months before conception ever happens.
The health of the egg, the health of the sperm, the environment inside the body and even the emotional and nervous system state of both patrons all play a role in the pregnancy that develops and the baby that is created.
This course is designed to walk you step-by-step through how to intentionally prepare your body your lifestyle, and your home for a healthy pregnancy.
